Dartford, c1949.
My sleepy town of Dartford was woken this morning by the sound of the all-clear air raid siren.
It was an incredibly eerie and surreal sound to wake up to, but I have since found out that the sirens are now used as a flood warning and today was the annual test of the siren as we approach that time of year where our rivers tend to burst their banks.
It makes me wonder though, how useful is this warning if nobody really knows what it’s used for anymore?
